ROSA MARTINEZ MARMOL
'Till Next Time
Hi everyone, welcome to the last week of blogs for this trip. This trip has been filled with laughter and learning, which have made this trip a better experience than I could've imagined. At the beginning of this project I was intimidated by not knowing exactly what was expected of me. Having to travel to another country also added to that anxiety, but I am very grateful that I was given this opportunity to begin with. Having a mentor that gave me the freedom to try to do things on my own but also answer my questions when I was stuck was one of the best parts of doing research abroad. I believe the best way to learn is by doing, which is exactly what I was able to do here. During this time I was able to learn about landslides (what triggers them, the criteria that may make some areas more susceptible than others, etc.), how to work QGIS and Google Earth. Being able to have these skills and knowledge have aided my confidence when talking about the research I am apart of. I will always remember the things I learned and experienced while in Costa Rica, and it’s all thanks to the GREAT Project.
